FAQ

Questions, answered.

Who is Scope for?+

High school and undergraduate students looking for research experience, and the professors, PhD researchers and companies who want to work with them.

Do I need research experience to apply?+

No. Many projects are built for first-time researchers. Each listing shows who it’s open to, the time commitment and what you’ll be doing, so you can find a good first fit.

Can high school students join?+

Yes. Listings say which education levels they accept, and you can filter for opportunities open to high school students.

Who can see my profile?+

Your profile is private. A professor or researcher only sees it, along with your documents, when you apply to one of their opportunities. You can also turn on “Let verified professors find me” so verified professors can see a summary of your profile and invite you to apply. Your email and contact details are never shown.

How do you know the researchers are real?+

Every professor, researcher and company is reviewed by the Scope team before they can post. Listings are reviewed too before students see them.

What is Scope OS?+

The workspace for research teams on Scope. It keeps a project’s tasks, milestones, files, literature, notes and discussions in one place, with clear roles for students and supervisors.

I’m a professor. How do I post a project?+

Create an account, choose the researcher option and submit your details for verification. Once you’re approved you can post projects and start reviewing applicants.
